While Winter isn’t always the most forgiving season, it shouldn’t keep you from making holiday memories. Here are some family-friendly activities to keep you entertained, both in and out of your car.

Iroquois Winter Woods Spectacular

Historic Iroquois Park offers a new Holiday experience with the Iroquois Winter Woods Spectacular. It's a half mile ride through a section of woods filled with glorious illumination. Millions of lights glow and twinkle for your visual delight in a feast for the eyes you will never forget. It's a smorgasbord for the senses as vivid and breathtaking artistic scenes unite with nature, mixing with the perfect sounds of the season.

The Iroquois Winter Woods Spectacular is a presentation from the same producers of the Louisville Jack O' Lantern Spectacular that has fast become a Louisville institution these past few years, so it's bonafide to indeed be an astounding work to behold. Proceeds benefit the Louisville Parks Foundation, helping them to continue to keep our fantastic parks thriving. For more information, please visit

Louisville Mega Cavern’s Lights Under Louisville

Populated by all manner of pop culture icons including superheroes, cartoon characters, and every one of your old pals from the Rankin Bass specials like Rudolph and Frosty, the Mega Cavern's seasonal Lights Under Louisville returns. Over 900 displays glowing with more than 4,000,000 points of light wish you a happy season throughout a 30-minute ride in the world's only underground holiday light show.

“There is a reason why Lights Under Louisville has been voted one of the top ten Christmas Light Shows in the country by USA Today,” says Jim Lowry, owner of the Mega Cavern. “We added another 1,000,000 points of light from last year and more themed areas! No matter if you are experiencing Lights Under Louisville, Christmas Express, Breakfast with Santa or Winter Wonderland, we guarantee a magical experience.”

You can pack friends and family in the car and drive through Lights Under Louisville, or with the Christmas Express offer, you can experience a daytime ride through the light show in an open top tram. You can then experience the separate Winter Wonderland and load up on some sweet treats. Many people come from miles around to experience Lights Under Louisville. For the true yuletide fans, you can get a Christmas Priority Pass that allows you to avoid any wait time before your cavernous cruise. If you really want to do this right, there's an extraordinary opportunity to enjoy breakfast with the big man himself before you get into all the cheer your little heart can handle. That's right; you can join Santa Claus himself and enjoy the first meal of the day alongside the man with the bag, then climb aboard the Christmas Express.
