Former Dancer Shows Off Her Rugby Place Remodel

Jordan Semder has had a tremendous eye for beauty and style in all things from a young age. Growing up the daughter of Marsha Riggle, owner of Tassels Interior Design, gave her a front row seat to home design. Although she had her own goals and aspirations to achieve first, she always knew despite other interests, she had a soft spot for interior design.

Jordan, a former University of Louisville LadyBird and, later, a Tennessee Titans cheerleader, moved from Nashville with her husband five years ago. The couple’s first remodel took place on their home in Prospect, which quickly made Jordan realize it was time to hang up her dancing shoes. The young couple moved to their Rugby Place residence when Jordan was six months pregnant with her second boy. Although her hands were full with a three year old and one on the way, she continued to keep her eye on the prize.

Artisan Signature Homes man- aged the remodel of the Semder family home whilst Jordan designed it. She was passionate about every little detail having her own personal touch. Although she goes by the alias @SimplySemder on Instagram, her style is anything but simple. And moreover, cannot be described in one word or placed into a single category. Her style is many things, therefore she chose not to focus on one aesthetic. Due to this focus, when you walk through the Rugby Place residence you will see a mix of traditional, farmhouse, modern, coastal, and eclectic style throughout. “Finding a way to make my revolving style transitional is and will always be at the forefront of my end goal,” Jordan says.

Every detail was thought out from start to finish to ensure the overall comfort and functionality for her family. Being a mom of two small children, Jordan said it took a village to do the renovation. She is grateful for the design assistance from Tassels and Jason Black. Jordan worked with architect, Britney Groneck, to rework the home’s original floor plans to create a better flow and more open concept. They knocked down two walls to get her airy, open kitchen. In the kitchen you will notice all-white quartz spanning from the countertops to the ceiling. Additionally, they raised all the doorways and added kitchen windows, as well as white inset cabinets and French doors.

The selections that excite Jordan the most within the Rugby reno design are the custom cabinetry, barn doors, steel railing, plaster fireplace, and float- ing quartz benches. Exposing raw brick throughout the house has played a part in this design, and her previous remodel. It continues to be a conversation piece when people walk through the home. One of her favorite design elements include Egyptian stripped pine pantry doors that were salvaged from buildings around the Mediterranean. These beautiful doors were perfectly placed in the kitchen, adding a unique taste of history.

It’s bright and light in the mostly-white home with accented wallpapered walls, fresh flowers and skylights throughout most

rooms. Crystal knobs, gold touches, white paneling, unique chandeliers and oversized mirrors create a place that feels more feminine in a house full of boys.

She hopes you will follow along on Instagram @SimplySemder as her design mind is constantly chiming. Although she is unsure where the road will take her, she is excited for what’s next.
