Last month, TOPS teamed up with Digs Home and Garden for the Distinctly Digs for Derby Giveaway. Hundreds entered to win a spectacular prize - a lucky winner's outdoor space was transformed into the per- fect party patio, just in time for Derby 145. Pamela Ritter won the package, consisting of an Outdoor Dining Set from Lane Venture Furniture and an Umbrella from Treasure Garden Umbrellas at a value of $4,775.00. "I love Digs and was thrilled to win the patio set; it's just stunning. I foresee many lovely gatherings with friends and family," Ms.Rit- ter said of the prize package.

Digs, a St Matthews fixture since 2000, is a fantastic source for renovating, updating, or just adding flair to make your outdoor area pop. After all, your yard space is a part of your home, and during these Summer months, Digs can be the key to help you un- wind as you visit with friends and family or just enjoy a little outside solitude in nature.

This season, Digs has welcomed the Lane Venture outdoor product line to its portfolio of suppliers. Lane Venture is an established out- door brand featuring a variety of collections from well-known designers, as well as reliable products that have served as brand staples crafted from aluminum, synthetic weaves, and teak. Lane Venture is one of the original designers of fully upholstered outdoor fur- niture built to withstand the elements. Digs was the original Summer Classics store in the marketplace but opted to add in other prod- uct lines and categories to ensure customers could tailor their outdoor living spaces to match personal tastes and preferences.

The design approach at Digs has always been about eclecticism, with a wide variety of care- fully curated brands coming together to en- sure a varied selection. Digs is your destination if you're interested in creating that outdoor space that is uniquely you. In addition to Lane Venture and Summer Classics, Digs is proud to represent beautiful outdoor products from Brown Jordan, Kingsley-Bate, TUUCI, and Gloster Outdoor in the Louisville marketplace.

Clients of Digs are always welcome to in- vite the design or planting pros on staff to come to their homes and advise them on their gardening, including planters, pots, landscape materials, and more. Another in- troduction this season at Digs is a weekend POP-UP planting event taking place on Sat- urdays. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the partners from Cracked Pots, Nique Friese, and Mindy Wiseman will plant your container with a variety of carefully selected stunning plant materials from Wallitsch nursery. The idea behind the pop-up is to educate clients on plant materials and planters that can com- plement and enhance outdoor spaces. Beau- tiful planters are, of course, available at Digs, but they don't mind if you bring your own.

Ben Palmer-Ball, Digs owner and found- er, notes that growth of the business has not always been easy. "We've had our share of upside down experiences, but those les- sons, while painful at the time, can be the most impactful for a business – you'll never grow if you don't keep putting yourself out there. I used to look for that quick win and, while that sometimes works for others, I've found the best approach is to take smaller risks – baby steps – and be satisfied with in- cremental growth." That's one reason this small, homegrown business is looking for- ward to 2020 – they'll be celebrating 20 years in business – no small accomplishment for a brick and mortar retailer in such a changing and evolving any gardener knows, patience is an important virtue!
