In a season of outdoor music, there’s a concert series where the music and parking is free… and the shopping discounts are as sweet as the melodies.

If the Comfy Cow or cocktails on the patio at Napa River Grill won’t woo you, the sidewalk sales will. For the uninitiated, the Westport Village Summer Concert series combines the allure of open air music with secret sales and nonprofit partnerships to create laid-back, fun-filled evenings for the whole family or your favorite shopping and dining companions.

An idyllic night of music with the added element of activities that create awareness for local nonprofits makes these events more than just a fun summer night out. This month’s concert features Abbey Road favorites, 12-piece string and horn ensemble, The Newbees, and includes free registration for Norton’s Bike to Beat Cancer fundraiser. Throw in a few giveaways throughout the show and there should be more than enough incentive to spend a summer night strolling the cobblestones and supporting local shops and restaurants.

Westport Village shopping center is located at 1315 Herr Lane. Free summer concerts take place between 6 and 8 p.m. and include these remaining dates: July 20; The Newbees and Norton’s Bike to Beat Cancer registration. August 10; Kudmani and YMCA’s Back to School Backpack Drive. September 7: Radiotronic and Dreams with Wings. Visit westportvillage.com for more information.
