What started on a lark by two fans of The Big Lebowski in a tiny bowling alley in Louisville, Kentucky in 2002, has spawned the cultural phenomenon known as Lebowski Fest which celebrates the Coen Brothers iconic film in bowling alleys across the world. Fans have been gathering for nearly two decades to bowl, dress in costume, drink White Russians and abide in honor of The Big Lebowski which turns 20 years old this year. Lebowski Fest returns to the city where the event was founded, Louisville, Kentucky on July 20th & 21st, 2018.

We are excited to announce that for the 2nd year, Will Russell, creator of Lebowski Fest, plans to donate the proceeds from the Garden Party games portion of the event to Wellspring, as well as the proceeds from the weekend-long silent auction.  The auction opens at Against The Grain Brewery on 7/19 and is a Lebowski-themed art show.

Mental health is a cause near and dear to Will’s heart.  He has spoken publicly of how important it is to recognize mental illness and get treatment.  "I want people to know that mental illness is a legitimate treatable medical condition and is nothing to be ashamed of. People with mental illness can still live good fulfilling lives with proper treatment" he stated.

Wellspring provides housing and psychiatric rehabilitative services to those facing the challenges of mental illness, serving nearly 800 adults each year.  Wellspring offers Crisis Stabilization Programs, an extensive Supportive Housing Program, and an Affordable Housing Program with deeply subsidized rental housing as well as a Supportive Employment Program. Wellspring offers recovery-oriented programming, with the focus on person-centered, individualized care, using a multi-disciplinary approach to support clients along their individual paths to recovery. Wellspring facilitates clients’ community integration by strengthening neighborhood connections and offering high quality housing and supportive services.
