This fall and winter, Louisvillians and visitors alike have the unique opportunity to experience The Brown Hotel’s upscale casual dining venue, Lobby Bar & Grill. The “spectacularly beautiful and surprisingly unstuffy” Lobby Bar is now serving Chef Dustin Willett’s English Grill menu, blending contemporary American cuisine with Kentucky culinary tradition.

According to Lobby Bar Manager J. Troy Ritchie, Lobby Bar & Grill will be open Monday through Saturday from 5 pm - 10 pm (with live piano music each evening) until the English Grill reopens in the spring of 2022. The Brown Hotel’s J, Graham’s Cafe is open for brunch on Sundays at 10 am.

Following a four-month-long $220,000 renovation in 2019, the Lobby Bar project expanded the bar itself and created seating for up to 30 additional guests in the bar and lounge area. The bar extension features cherry wood cabinetry and paneling, and granite countertops. The Lobby Bar, English Grill, and The Brown Hotel consistently land on best-of lists published in their respective categories.

This past July, Forbes contributor Katie Chang named Lobby Bar & Grill at The Brown Hotel one of “7 Reasons Why You Should Visit Louisville This Summer,” highlighting The Hot Brown open-faced sandwich and the hotel’s extensive bourbon collection.

If you’ve never had the original Hot Brown, settle in for roasted turkey breast, toast points, Mornay sauce, and Pecorino Romano cheese, baked to a golden brown and topped with bacon and tomatoes. “A Louisville Tradition with worldwide appeal,” The Hot Brown has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Southern Living Magazine, The Los Angeles Times, NBC’s Today Show, ABC News with Diane Sawyer, and Travel Channel’s Man v. Food and is “a regular entry in many of the finest cookbooks.”
