Family-owned Mees Tile and Marble has served Louisville and Lexington since 1954. They maintain a large inventory of ceramic, porcelain, glass and natural stone tile and are one of the largest importers and fabricators of natural stone and quartz in the midwest.

Todd Meyer, owner and CEO, says his showrooms are staffed with professional designers to assist customers with the selection of over 1,000 colors of ceramic, porcelain and natural stone into their homes.

A customer of Mees can choose from a $5 million inventory of raw material that can be fabricated in Mees’ own production facility using state-of-the-art equipment. Mees has both materials and facilities, which puts the company in a unique position to offer “exquisitely crafted material in a timely manner,” says Todd.

Todd said the company is a “one-stop-shop” where customers can select prefinished hardwood, ceramic tiles and porcelain, and natural stone for flooring and walls. You’re only charged for what you use, not the entire slab, which is more cost-effective for customers; even usage of the in-house design service is without extra charge. The company also offers financing options.

You can even make specialty items at Mees, including using natural stone and tile for bars, benches and tables, fireplaces, poker tables, statues, and custom mosaics. Mees restores stone, granite and marble for statues, natural stone altars, baptismals, church railings, furniture and other home improvement projects. The one-stop-shop restores tile and grout, as well as stains grout. So, why choose stone? Todd says it’s durable, affordable and can be used indoors and outdoors. It’s a focal point of any room and adds value to a home or business

Todd says he’s seeing multiple trends when it comes to remodeling and building homes, including detailed finishes in kitchens and flooring. Many customers are requesting multi-dimensional items on backsplashes and shower walls. “Natural stone is everywhere,” Todd says. Marble is a hot item on kitchen countertops with multiple finishes such as leather on the island and a polished finish on the perimeter. Mees can leather any color on countertops and then incorporate the countertop colors accordingly.

When it comes to flooring, Todd says large format wood and ceramic tiles that look like wood are being installed at a rapid pace. These materials are great for those who have pets and don’t want to bother with upkeep. “It’s such a fantastic look,” Todd says. “It’s hard to tell the difference (between real and faux wood).”

If you’d like to update or create your new space, Todd suggests taking pictures of your room and drawing the dimensions before arriving at the showroom in Louisville or in Lexington. Then, the customer will sit down with a designer to help create the new room with new flooring, backsplash and countertops.
