Louisville, KY – CenterStage at The J is proud to bring to the stage, Bridges of Madison, which was selected as the people’s choice musical for the 2019-2020 season. This musical was chosen by CenterStage patrons who had an opportunity to vote for the musical they would most like to see preformed. Performances run Oct. 31 – Nov. 11, 2019.
Bridges of Madison County is based on the best-selling novel. It tells the story of Francesca Johnson, a beautiful Italian woman who married an American soldier to flee war-ravaged Italy. She looks forward to a rare four days alone on her Iowa farm when her family heads to the 1965 State Fair. When ruggedly handsome, National Geographic photographer, Robert Kincaid, pulls into her driveway seeking directions, though, what happens in those four days may well alter the course of Francesca’s life.
“With a sweeping score, two breathtaking lead actors, set against a late summer sky, Bridges of Madison County will capture your heart from the first-string tremolo and never let it go,” said director Michael Drury.
Between the cast and the top tier production team, this show is bound to be one you don't want to miss. Colette Delaney Mattingly, who plays Francesca, has done several productions with CenterStage over the past 18 years. She was last seen as Mrs. Banks in Mary Poppins. “We are so thrilled to have Colette back with us here at CenterStage. She is such a tremendous talent, that we are so lucky to have,” said Frank Goodloe, III, CenterStage performance and visual arts director. Landon Sholar, who plays Robert, has been involved with professional theatre for the past six years and joined CenterStage’s company in 2018. He was last seen on the CenterStage stage in the role of Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast. “If you saw that show, you definitely know what a talent Landon is. One of the most versatile actors that I have ever met,” said Goodloe.
